Position: Geophysicist

SAND Geophysics are seeking a geophysicist.

Working in a small team, independently or directly with clients on complex projects, the geophysicist will participate in all areas of geophysical surveying, with a focus on vessel mobilisation, data acquisition and in field quality control and data processing. Projects will include a broad range of geophysical data (side scan sonar, sub-bottom profiler, magnetometer, and seismic) and may range in size from 1-day 12-hour operations to multi-week 24-hour operations.

Additionally, there will be opportunities for involvement in project planning and management, final processing and reporting and research and development.

Major Areas of Responsibility:

  • Setup and operation of geophysical survey equipment
  • On-board (Online & Offline) quality control of geophysical data sets
  • Processing and interpretation of geophysical datasets
  • Assist in the development and review of risk assessments and method statements for survey equipment and procedures
  • Assist with data management & reporting
  • Promote the safety and health of the workforce
  • Assist with marketing and managing client relationships

Requirements:

  • Experience with a range of sub-bottom, sidescan sonar and magnetometer systems
  • Appropriate level of industry experience and relevant qualifications
  • Hold and maintain an offshore medical
  • Hold and maintain a sea survival certificate
  • Experience with multibeam echo sounders and navigation systems is highly desirable.

Working Arrangements:

  • Working at SAND’s offices in Netley Abbey, on-worksites and remotely
  • Typical work pattern Monday to Friday 09:00 to 17:00
  • Flexible hours when not on worksites
  • 12hr shifts on worksites

Position: Graduate Geophysicist

SAND Geophysics are seeking a graduate geophysicist.

Working in a small team, independently or directly with clients on complex projects, the graduate geophysicist will assist with the acquisition, processing and interpretation of high quality geophysical data (side scan sonar, sub-bottom profiler, magnetometer, and seismic).

Major Areas of Responsibility:

  • Assist with setting up survey equipment
  • Assist with acquiring geophysical data
  • Processing Geophysical data
  • Interpretation of geophysical data
  • Assist with maintenance and development of equipment
  • Assist with data management & Reporting
  • Promote the safety and health of the workforce

Requirements:

  • Holding a relevant degree in Geoscience
  • Knowledge of geophysical survey equipment; including sub-bottom profilers, sidescan sonar and magnetometer systems
  • Experience of interpreting geophysical data is desirable
  • Good communication skills
  • Team working skills
  • Good time management and the ability to organise and prioritise your workload.
  • Driving license highly desirable
